SeeMore- Be Safe 👷📚

SeeMore and Calm visited our service a couple of weeks ago as part of the SeeMore Safety Program and the children have since had the opportunity to put learning into action. For example, exploring our preschool environment, assessing safe/unsafe behaviours and taking responsibility for their safety with the support of educators. 👷

SeeMore is the cuddly Mascot associated with the SeeMore Safety Program and has been helping educators promote a “Think Safe, Play Safe” approach to body safety, complementing our SAFE Series explorations. 📚🦺

During Story-Time this week (Tuesday & Thursday) the children also had the opportunity to engage with the book,“SeeMore Safety at Preschool, getting ready for school”. The book shared personal safety messages and encouraged the children to assess the differing environments contained with the story, identifying safe and unsafe choices. The discussion around the book also allowed the children to unpack a range happenings and note why some actions could cause harm. 🤕

The children also got to engage with a couple of resources we have created to complement the SeeMore Safety Program too. For example, a social story on how to keep safe around others and a poster using the language associated with the book, Stop ✋, See 👀 Safe 👍.

We will continue to help empower the children to build a strong sense of identity and wellbeing so that they can keep themselves and others safe within our Preschool environment.
