Today we facilitated our very first "Fruit Break"!! At Fruit Break educators and children came together to eat a range of fruit and vegetables under the shade of our pergola. We were able to view and talk about the many colours, textures and types of fruit/vegetables everyone was eating and we also got to "refuel" our bodies and "rehydrate" with some water during the process.

Our "Fruit Break" concept came from the children's interest and participation within a school transition program last week and the principal’s around a fruit break also align with professional learning recently undertaken by educators.

We would also like to note that some other local schools call this important routine event, "Crunch and Sip”. I wonder if we should come up with another name for "Fruit Break" if this unique event becomes an embedded practice ? Is the term “Fruit Break” reflective of our learning environment? Please share your ideas!!
